Reliable financial information starts with disciplined transaction recording. When entries are incomplete, poorly coded, or unsupported by evidence, management reports lose credibility, supplier/customer disputes increase, and cash visibility becomes unreliable. Good bookkeeping therefore combines technical accuracy with control habits: evidence discipline, clear references, segregation of duties awareness, and consistent checking routines.
This course develops practical bookkeeping capability with a strong control mindset. Learners follow the transaction lifecycle from source document → voucher/entry → books of prime entry/journals → ledger posting → trial balance → reconciliations, maintaining a clear audit trail throughout. Learners also build competence in identifying and correcting errors using structured investigation methods, and in applying bank and control account reconciliations as routine accuracy checks. Where the correct posting cannot be confirmed immediately, learners apply temporary clearing methods responsibly, with documentation and time-bound follow-up.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to produce a dependable bookkeeping pack that supports month-end checking and day-to-day financial control in small and medium organisations.
